KOHALA TO HAWI

DISTRICT OF KOHALA

The first day of our tour begins on the IRONMAN world championship course, pausing at the Pololu Valley overlook for our first glimpse of the Hamakua coastline. This ride showcases the unique climate zone changes the Big Island is known for, as we start on the hot dry Kohala coast and climb up to tropical Hawi. We’ll ascend into the green hills of Kona, where cool nights and volcanic soil produce some of the finest coffee groves on the planet. Nestled 1,200 feet above Kona, Holualoa Town looks almost the same as it did 50 years ago. Easily one of the least traveled areas, we get old cane haul roads all to ourselves as we descend back to South Point.
