We begin our ride in Kona at the start of the IRONMAN course at the Kailua-Kona Pier, and then ascend into the green hills of Kona, where cool nights and volcanic soil produce some of the finest coffee groves on the planet.
Enjoy the climb up Hualalai and grab a Kona coffee at the cool artist village of Holualoa. Next we’ll descend towards beautiful Kealakekua Bay and Captain Cook monument, the spot where western explorers first landed in Hawaii. We’ll continue past Two Step, the best snorkeling spot on the island, towards historic St. Benedict’s Painted Church. The climb out of Kealakekua is one of the most striking and dynamic on the Big Island. Riding south to the district of Ka’u, the southernmost point in the United States, we’ll arrive at Daleico, our family-owned cattle ranch. Sit on the porch and soak up the ocean view, or do a recovery cliff-jump into some of the most aquamarine blue water you can imagine. They don’t call this location the end of the earth for nothing!
